The Ultimate Guide to Hypnovember
What is Hypnovember?
Hypnovember is a yearly month-long event celebrating the wonderful world of hypnosis and mind control. Although the official year it began is unclear, I have found prompt lists dating back to 2018.
Despite this event starting mainly with the community’s artists (extending to writers as well), there have been a variety of creative endeavors and unique participation within the community.
In the history of Hypnovember, individuals use a list that includes 30 prompts for each day of the month. During this time, artists, writers, hypnotists, and other hypnosis enjoyers post content related to that day’s word. However, many users post their Hypnovember content well past the assigned date deadline. This is similar to other month-long celebrations, such as October’s KinkTober or its more well-known safe-for-work (sfw) counterpart, InkTober.
Unlike InkTober, the community does not have an “official” prompt list, which allows multiple creators to release one each year. This, in my opinion, allows for creativity and ingenuity to allow users to express their interests and enjoyment of the kink in novel ways.
Who participates?
The short answer is anyone and everyone who enjoys hypnosis and mind control.
The long answer is that Hypnovember allows for a diverse range of participation and more varied content creation than that of InkTober, which often emphasizes drawn/art focused forms of media. I have seen a variety of involvement from the community during my time as a passive enjoyer of Hypnovember. Posts have ranged from art and literature to hypnosis scripts and educational material. Therefore, no matter if you are an active contributor, passive enjoyer, new to the kink, or an experienced senior, there is something for you to enjoy this Hypnovember.
How to participate?
Before you begin figuring out what to post for Hypnovember, you may want to know what platforms are hosting content. This event occurs mainly in public and often art-centric social media platforms, such as DeviantArt or Tumblr; however, I encourage you to explore other platforms. To date, there is participation in the event on the following platforms: X (formerly known as Twitter), Tumblr, DeviantArt, Furaffinity, Archive of Our Own, and Blusky, to name a few platforms to get started with.
When deciding which platform is right for you, you can use the search or tagging function to look up activity surrounding Hypnovember. This can be done via tagging (#hypnovember) or by searching the word (hypnovember) or similar words, depending on the platform. For posts relating to the year, you can add the year to the end of your search (i.e., hypnovember2024). By looking at the posts on each platform first, you can decide which places to participate best.
After determining your site, find a prompt list or make your own. If you are interested in a premade prompt list for 2024, some are linked below. When creating your own, think about words or phrases related to hypnosis and mind control. You can include terms related directly to the hypnosis process, such as trance, blank, or induction. You can also include words that discuss various aspects of subgenres of the kink, such as brainwashing, brain drain, or intelligence loss. For inspiration, see what words other creators have used in the past.
Once you have a prompt list, you can begin making content. Keep in mind that you do not need to be an artist or writer to participate. This event is open to everyone, and even talking about your enjoyment of the kink is a fun way to participate.
Lastly, it is essential to remember to have fun, embrace curiosity, and if you are, stay kinky!
